I spent years working toward my doctorate.

I wasn’t burned out. I wasn’t lost. I had just expected the moment to change something it wasn’t built to touch.

I didn’t sit with it. I did what I always do. I moved on.

What’s next? What’s the next thing to chase?

That moment didn’t break me. It built a habit. Move fast. Feel nothing. Set the next goal.

Eventually, someone called it out.

“You’re good at pressure,” they said. “But you have no system for meaning.”

They weren’t wrong.

I had built a machine for progress. But not one for satisfaction. That's the hidden crisis of achievement culture.
